Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jan 15, 2024 12:16 pm I've been experiencing issues with horizontal cracking in the facade render, originating from underneath. Initially, I had requested the builder to use texture cladding, but they opted for blue board over the timber beam with polyethylene render. Unfortunately, due to movement, the render continues to crack despite the builder's attempts to address it. The builder has now agreed to rectify the issue by installing texture cladding over the existing render and has proposed incorporating a corrugated profile beneath the facade. (see detail) I would prefer to maintain consistency in the finishing material. Any suggestions or thoughts on this matter would be greatly appreciated Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Facade Render cracks 9Jan 15, 2024 9:46 pm Don’t know how JH board going to work for you Going to have vertical joints, maybe exposed jointing caulked, screws patched and paint With your house, balcony movement, they build on top of the beams and the follows poor workmanship Would need to grind off render or break it all open, generally, framing is poor, coil guns used, render cheap bags, stick on mesh and not embed in render Can be repaired Re: Facade Render cracks 10Jan 18, 2024 10:02 am alexp79 This is most probably the reason After further questioning the builder, I was told that there is an EPS foam on top of the board and he told me the render has a mesh. I am not satisfied with his answear and the cracks are getting wider.
