Browse Forums Building A New House Re: CORAL homes 1st build, Marcoola 30 QLD 62May 17, 2016 8:16 pm teganandjosh MrsJM That's great news! If I've learned anything, it's that a few weeks delay at the front end will be worth it to not have to worry about addressing things during construction and hoping things work out. You'll be glad in the ens C U S T O M. C O R A L. B R O N T E. 43 http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=79581 Thanks MrsJM. Just wrote a novel in the general thread >.< Our consultant is asking where our tiles are going. We mentioned to our sales lady last year at start of tenders then we want to tile to ceiling, but she said don't add to contract as coral are expensive, and that we just ask the tiler on site? So do I just tell our sales lady tiles going to standard areas? Then ask SS about seeing tiler, to finish tiling to ceiling? I think consultant said she has to raise a variation for extra cost because we are laying porc rect tiles to floor boo I'm so sorry- don't know how I missed this reply! The danger with asking the tiler to do it onsite is that a) he might say no and b) coral might not have ordered enough tiles and there's always a risk that different batches have slightly different shades. He could always jumble them up but depending on style and colour any shade different may be more obvious than others. We are doing our main floor ourselves (because coral refused to lay our chosen tile) and when I got quotes directly it really opened my eyes to the mark up!! I'm sorry to hear about your delays with head office. I feel your pain. The drafting queue is the worst! I don't know if they sit around all day eating lollies or giving each other massages but seriously they are sloooooow! I had to laugh the day I asked my CSO what the delay was with getting my floor plans corrected and she said 'they are very busy and need to prioritise jobs'. Haha I laughed and said 'my job is 8 weeks into the construction phase... How on earth do they work the priority queue!?' Hopefully it will be a Coral miracle and they will push yours through after all the stuffing around. It seems to be the experience of most others at the moment that once you're rid of head office and construction starts it will fly along. I know it's hard when you thought you would be in by June. I thought I would be in by Xmas last year lol. But as hard as it is, when you start seeing things happen on site it is a huge mood and morale booster. Then you will start online shopping once you start being able to walk through frames and visualise rooms and you'll be in before you know it! Hang in there. C U S T O M. C O R A L. And to star5d height? Weve gone the elegance package with 2100 high tiling and been trying to figure out how much it will cost to do porclean in the ensuite and bath. Main floor isnt negotiable. Polished porclean what ever it costs lol Hoping you're home gets sorted.soon CORAL homes 1st build, Marcoola 30 QLD 66May 18, 2016 10:21 am Quote: Hi teganandjosh, Great choice in homes Wondering what the 2k for porclean tiles is that purely laying fees? We are owner supplying all flooring, but coral HAS to lay all wet areas. We will lay main flooring. We will have coral tile only standard height on wet areas, and later we will tile to ceiling. Glass splash back is going in kitchen and coral have said that will be installed after handover.. We have some baby tuckeroo trees growing under the mature ones which is cool! They weren't disturbed during the process haha. I plan on the planting them soon. Great trees I think. Hoping we will have our start date next week (they've pushed the date quite a few times) thinking we won't start until June now.. New financial year.. Funny that! The aircon is in with the draftsman now. Have ordered our tiles too, just can't wait to get a date and meet our SS!
