That's what we're thinking! I don't think we'll ever really use it as a 'formal' lounge, we're more likely to spend all our time outside. Thanks for the comments on the colours - I can't wait to see it all come together now. If only I had a magic wand to make it all happen over night! We've just found out that CH have opened a new display home just near us of the same style as ours, so we're packing the kids in the car (much to their delight) and we're off to have a look. Re: Our Coral Heron:We're in and LOVING IT! 10Sep 14, 2008 8:38 pm Just clarify, Council's in Queensland generally don't care about house design, unless you are triggered by a setback relaxation or the like. Generally the only thing from Council needed is a plumbing and drainage approval, which is quick because builders aren't totally stumped on why to submit for one. Re: Our Coral Heron:We're in and LOVING IT! 11Sep 15, 2008 10:15 am haywgl It all looks great I think your feature tiles are the same as Toni's - very nice!! You're right Bel!! Jelly legs, I'm having quite a few of your selections too and our first house that we built was with C*ral Homes - Brampton 232 (with a few changes) 11 years ago. We are having polar white in our kitchen, mushroom linea in our laundry, the white gloss tiles for the showers and similar travertine/noce feature tiles in our ensuite and powder room . We are having the natural finish though and our ensuite ones are square (didn't see the rectangle ones). All looks great, well done. Hope your build with CH goes well. We had ZERO problems with them, they were fantastic. Happy at Home Re: Our Coral Heron:We're in and LOVING IT! 12Feb 06, 2009 5:49 pm Just reviving my 'old' thread after nothing had been happening for us for so long.
Well after waiting FOREVER for council and the bank to evolve, our start date finally arrived today. YAAAAY!! Felt like we'd NEVER get here and that building a house was just a dream. We arrived at the block this morning to see a big yellow tractor on our block which was VERY exciting. Sad that a tractor is a highlight of my day, but true. Wait till the portaloo arrives, then I'll be doing cartwheels! Our SS seems great, talked us through everything, what to expect and explained lots to us about the piers and frame and things that are very important to hold our house together. It was good to hear him so enthusiastic about it. Most importantly to us, he let us know that they're getting the houses constructed in about 12 weeks at the moment! Music to our ears after waiting so long. The tractor was supposed to have been put to use today to cut the block, but when I took the kids back for a look this afternoon, it was still sitting there untouched. Oh well. Pegs are booked for Tuesday, so hopefully it will be done Monday. Happy Days are here at last!! Re: Our Coral Heron:We're in and LOVING IT! 13Feb 06, 2009 7:49 pm I'm sooooo thrilled that you are finally starting..
re.... the tractor, the first thing we saw on our block were the pegs and a huge load of sand!!! Only people building will ever understand the pure adrenalin as we all see something on our long awaited for dream!!!!! The next few months are VERY exiting!!! CONGRATS!! Built a modified "Daydream 279" .. Cor@l Homes on a flat 4473m block!! And lov'n it!!! Re: Our Coral Heron:We're in and LOVING IT! 14Feb 07, 2009 4:37 pm Just popped out to the block this morning on the off chance something might have been done. Thought it was wishful thinking but NO!! Look what we found:
http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr64/JellyLegs01/100_0298.jpg We also have lots of dirt to remove eeek. Don't know what we were thinking, we thought we could save it to use for garden fill, but there's heaps of it there. http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr64/JellyLegs01/100_0300.jpg Re: Our Coral Heron:We're in and LOVING IT! 15Feb 08, 2009 7:31 am Don't worry to much about the dirt yet, they will use some of it in the Slab. Re: Our Coral Heron:We're in and LOVING IT! 16Feb 10, 2009 4:42 pm Portaloo arrived today, piers to be done this week and slab due for next week!
Re: Our Coral Heron:We're in and LOVING IT! 18Feb 12, 2009 9:37 am After waiting so long for things to happen on our patch of grass, pictures of portaloo's, dirt, and churned up dirt are super exciting to us. Every day we're one step closer. I met a guy on Tuesday who is doing a quote for polished concrete for me and I think its going to come in quite reasonably priced. I've seen 2 of his jobs now and my concern is that the sealer he uses has a yellow tinge to it which gives the concrete a brown tone. Nice if its brown you want, but I'm looking for more a of natural grey colour. So, I'll have to have a chat to him today and see if there's something else we can use. This is the sort of look I'm after, not sure if we can achieve it though:

Congrats for getting to block finally cut. I drove past there yesterday and saw you place getting started... Hope this rain isnt holding you guys up to much. Love your colours too! Seems as our street is the "big house street" both of the houses that have slabs next to me (on the left) look pretty big too, great news for us, because its not like we are getting little rental specs built near us, like in Easy street. HOME- is where your story begins! Re: Our Coral Heron:We're in and LOVING IT! 20Feb 18, 2009 1:34 pm The rain is making me want to cry right now .
The block has been scarified to 600mm because of the clay soil and is currently filling up like a swimming pool. The plumber can't do anything until the rain stops and the water drains. They're checking daily and our SS was adamant that he'd do everything possible to get us back on schedule again, but this rain looks pretty well set in. We must be cursed. Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 14759 In Qld it is a requirement that a builder must have a cost breakdown, for building a home to the same specification, with the same inclusions and the same finish. So ask… 1 4837 of course there are legal avenues. You've already mentioned it. Sue them. I find it odd that lawyers wouldnt be willing to take on the case, given CCT evidence and… 1 24262 |
