Why do you think your house is not worth it? It would definitely help in re-sale value - that's what eventually convinced my DH to spend the extra Re: Laminates that replicate a stone finish 15Aug 07, 2008 7:54 pm We have a difficult shape to fill that requires other features to be put in such as a glass cabinet to soften one edge. Already we are up to about 15 or 16 thousand without appliances. There is a budget limit. Re: Laminates that replicate a stone finish 17Aug 07, 2008 8:31 pm Be wary of gloss finishes on benchtops as they show every god damn scratch, dent and dirt. It helps when a benchtop is a low sheen or velvet finish as it tends to hide the latter better.
I like the laminates that have a unique look or feel. Of particular note is ash dust and cotton craft by laminex and crystal topaz, white tigris, shadow silky and almond leather. The cotton craft and white tigris have a parchment look, the shadow silky feels great and has a unique shimmer. The rest are stone imitations that are not over powering, just right. The kitchen is being extended a metre onto our deck (enclosed!) so that we have room to move. The building part is halfway complete but I will take some shots anyway. I will load them on the site sometime over the weekend if my babies sleep at the same time during the day. Re: Laminates that replicate a stone finish 19Aug 07, 2008 9:25 pm I was very interested in the Laminex diamond gloss as a benchtop but our colour consultant dissuaded us from selecting it because it was so sensitive to damage from regular wear & tear. Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Generally, the texture that you listed will have a 2mm size stone chip in it which is dragged with float to give the lines Any patch work needs to be 2mm less than face… 2 1860 4 14843 Building Standards; Getting It Right!
